Dear Neighbourhood Link Member,

Here is an update on neighbourhood policing in the NL63 neighbourhood.

Crime Prevention Advice

As the festive season comes to an end, I'm sure we have all noticed the roads getting worse and trickier to drive on, here are a few tips to stay safe whilst on the roads this winter-

Driving in winter can be hazardous due to ice, snow, and reduced visibility. Follow these tips to stay safe:

Check Your Vehicle

Ensure tyres have good tread and are properly inflated.

Test lights, battery, and brakes.

Top up washer fluid with antifreeze.

Plan Ahead

Check weather and traffic updates before leaving.

Allow extra time for your journey.

Drive Smoothly

Avoid harsh braking or acceleration.

Keep a safe distance—stopping distances can be up to 10 times longer on icy roads.

Reduce Speed

Slow down in poor conditions, especially on bends and when visibility is low.

Pack Essentials

Warm clothing, blanket, water, snacks, torch, and a fully charged phone.

Clear All Windows

Remove ice and snow from windows, mirrors, and lights before driving.

What have the neighbourhood team been doing?

Over the festive season, your local Neighbourhood Beat Team has been working hard to ensure our community remains safe and supported. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Compliance Checks
We carried out checks at an address currently subject to a partial closure order, ensuring conditions are being met and addressing any concerns promptly.

Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour
Our officers have responded to reports of anti-social behaviour, taking action to prevent disruption and maintain a peaceful environment for everyone.

Patrolling Hotspot Areas
Based on intelligence and information provided by you, we’ve increased patrols in identified hotspot locations to deter crime and reassure residents.

Your continued support and information are vital in helping us keep our neighbourhood safe. If you see anything suspicious or have concerns, please report it via 101, online at police.uk, or anonymously through Crimestoppers. Thank you for working with us to make our community safer.

This is just a selection of what the neighbourhood team have been doing, we have also been completing crime investigations, visible patrolling including ‘hot spot’ areas, and engaging with residents and businesses in the area.

19/01/26- 10:00-11:00- The Outwoods, Olivias' cafe, Nanpatan.

20/01/26- 10:30-11:30- The Arc community hub, Shelthorpe.

Neighbourhood consultations are a good opportunity to discuss your neighbourhood concerns and meet your local policing team. Please come along and speak to us.
